Home Depot Helps Veterans on the Home Front


Home Depot Foundation is helping Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys (SF/SCV) provide safe and decent housing and a chance for self-sufficiency for our veterans. As part of The Home Depot Foundation’s commitment to do more for our veteans, they are commiting $80 million nationwide to help veterans overcome struggles with housing, unemployment, and disabilities. In addition to funding they are also sending out their associates to commit their time in making a difference in these areas. PCL Construction Builds Homes with Sylmar Veteran Families


PCL Construction came out Saturday, August 10, 2013 to build with over half of the veteran families moving into the 12-home Sylmar Habitat for Heroes – Habitat Enriched Neighborhood™ in Sylmar, CA. PCL Construction, a longtime partner and supporter of Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys (SF/SCV) has sponsored the Sylmar Habitat for Heroes site as a Builder Partner. Harold Cares for Our New Veteran Families


The Harold Edelstein Foundation, has made a new commitment to continue funding “Harold’s Help Desk”, a life-saving program for Habitat families. This is an urgent need as we expand to help our veterans in two new Habitat “enriched” communities. Struggles with post-traumatic stress (PTS) and getting around due to injury make it difficult for veterans to be successful in their own homes. Veterans with PTS or injury often need support from their spouse and loved ones to do things as simple as showering.
